Pentecost Reflection Series

Pentecost Celebration – June 8–11, 2025

This post comes a little later than I hoped, but as they say, better late than never. The Auckland Cathedral Young Adult Group prepared for Pentecost this year by sharing a special Reflection Series, which was posted on our group’s Facebook page for everyone’s reference.

When I first volunteered, I simply offered to record one reflection video for the group. What I didn’t expect was that this would unfold into a 4-day series — one reflection each night to reflect on Pentecost. Looking back, I realize it was truly the Spirit’s gentle push. I finally had the time now to sit down and put my thoughts into writing, and I can honestly say I am deeply grateful for how it all turned out.

The truth is, I deeply enjoyed preparing for this Pentecost Reflection Series. For four evenings, I filmed myself quietly in my room, with just my notes, my Bible, and prayer. I spent hours reading, studying, and reflecting so that I could better understand the movement of the Holy Spirit in our lives — and then share those insights with others. It was a personal journey of faith, and I am so grateful that it touched others too.

What is Pentecost?

Pentecost is one of the greatest feasts of the Church. It falls fifty days after Easter and commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles in the upper room. Scripture tells us in Acts 2:1–4 that the apostles, once fearful, were filled with courage, joy, and power when the Spirit came upon them as tongues of fire.

This event is often called the birth of the Church, because it was from this moment that the apostles went out boldly to proclaim the Gospel. Today, Pentecost continues to be celebrated around the world with Mass, prayers for renewal, and a deep call to mission.

A Week of Reflection and Prayer

From June 8–11, 2025, our Auckland Cathedral Young Adult Group journeyed through a 4-day Pentecost Reflection Series. Each evening, we shared a short video reflection, paired with a simple guide to help anyone — no matter where they are — take time to reflect and pray.

What made this special for me was how intimate the process was. These weren’t polished studio productions. They were filmed in my room, with the sincerity of someone who wanted to learn, grow, and share. Behind each short reflection was much reading, note-taking, prayer, and an honest desire to let the Spirit lead.

Pentecost Videos and Free Printables

The highlight of this series — and something I am very proud to share — is the set of free downloadable printables. They were created to help you carry Pentecost into your daily life.

Use them as you like: print them, write on them, bring them to prayer, or share them with others. My hope is that they support your personal journey and keep the Spirit alive in your heart.

The 7 Gifts of the Holy Spirit

As written in Isaiah 11:2–3, the Spirit blesses us with gifts that guide and strengthen us. Each gift has a profound meaning for our daily lives:

  1. Wisdom – the ability to see things from God’s perspective, helping us make choices that lead to holiness.
  2. Understanding – a deeper insight into the mysteries of faith, so that God’s Word speaks to our hearts.
  3. Counsel – guidance to make good decisions, especially in moments of uncertainty or moral challenge.
  4. Fortitude – courage to stand firm in faith, even when faced with trials, fear, or temptation.
  5. Knowledge – recognizing God’s hand in creation and in our personal lives, so we live with gratitude and purpose.
  6. Piety – a loving devotion toward God, treating Him as a Father and honoring all people as His children.
  7. Fear of the Lord – not fear as in terror, but awe and reverence before God’s greatness, which keeps us humble and obedient.

The 12 Fruits of the Holy Spirit

When we allow the Spirit’s gifts to work within us, they bear fruit. As Galatians 5:22–23 teaches, these are the visible signs of a life transformed by grace:

  1. Love – choosing to will the good of others, even when it costs us.
  2. Joy – an inner gladness rooted not in circumstances, but in God’s presence.
  3. Peace – calm of heart that flows from trusting God completely.
  4. Patience – the ability to endure suffering, delay, or hardship with a steady spirit.
  5. Kindness – gentleness and compassion expressed in word and deed.
  6. Goodness – choosing what is right and reflecting God’s holiness in daily actions.
  7. Faithfulness – steadfast loyalty to God and to His promises, even when it is difficult.
  8. Gentleness – strength that is restrained and used with tenderness, especially toward the vulnerable.
  9. Self-control – mastery over desires and passions, keeping our lives disciplined and balanced.
  10. Modesty – humility in how we live and present ourselves, pointing others to God rather than ourselves.
  11. Chastity – purity of heart and body, living our relationships in accordance with God’s plan.
  12. Generosity – a readiness to give freely of time, talent, and treasure, trusting that God always provides.

These fruits are what make the Christian life shine. They are not abstract ideals, but lived realities that transform us and those around us.

Closing Reflection | Final Thought

Looking back, I realize how much this week of preparation and sharing meant to me. It was not just about producing content — it was about being transformed myself, as I opened the Scriptures and asked the Holy Spirit to guide me.

The greatest joy of all was being able to share and teach through these reflections. Yet, if I am honest, I believe I was the one who received the greatest blessing. In the preparing, reading, writing, filming, and praying, the Holy Spirit drew me closer, deepened my understanding, and filled me with peace. And to see those thoughts take shape in the printable sheets I created was pure grace — a proud and joy-filled moment where faith and creativity met.

“Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful, and enkindle in them the fire of your love.”

Though this is a late post, I hope these free printable sheets will bless you as much as they blessed me in creating them. May they remind you that the Spirit is alive and present, constantly renewing, guiding, and filling our hearts with courage and peace.

On behalf of the Auckland Cathedral Young Adults, thank you for journeying with me during my first-ever Pentecost Reflection Series.

  1. Yes , in this case better late than never. This blog was well worth the wait. Reminding us of the gifts and the fruits of the Holy Spirit. Gifts that Christ taught us and left for us. You can not serve God if you are selfish. Whatever you do unto the least of my brothers that you do unto me. Another spiritually inspiring blog by Marie! Praise be to God ✝️✝️✝️
